The Setting
Omali sits right on Ana Chaves bay at Praia Lagarto, roughly 2km from the city centre and five minutes from the airport. It is operated by the Príncipe Collection, and despite the professional operation it keeps a genuine boutique feel with only 30 rooms.
The Beach & Vibe
Praia Lagarto is directly out front. On Sundays the beach fills with local families: relaxed, genuinely friendly, and a good place to spend an afternoon without being hassled. Between trips, the hotel is the most reliable base on the island for exploring or connecting to flights.
Dining
The seafood restaurant here is renowned, serving fresh local fish and Santomean dishes. A full continental breakfast buffet is included with every room, so factor that in when comparing prices against platforms that charge it separately.
The Local Sunset Shortcut
Skip the taxi into town. From the hotel, take the coastal dirt track that turns left next to the closed car dealership: it runs along the ocean all the way into the city through a local community. At sunset it is one of the nicer walks on the island, with the bay glowing on one side the whole way. Expect crabs on the path at night, so take a torch if you are coming back after dark. Catch the water conditions right and you may well see dolphins offshore.
